Tactile Gaming Interaction

I am excited to see a this shift we are experiencing towards improving the interactivity of games. Nintendo has the DS and the Wii, and Sony has it’s controller as well.

Here is a really sweet demonstration by Edward Tse, a PhD student from the Interactions Lab at the Univ. of Calgary, of a digital table where you control the screen through touch and voice commands. He demonstrates Google Earth and Warcraft III. I envision “warcraft parties” in the future where you will invite a few buddies over to your house

If you’ve played with a DS, you know how the experience is something entirely different when you touch a screen and it responds instantly – it’s a lot more involving and intimate.
