Atom NewsGame Channel

Games take another step forward to becoming a fully developed medium with Atom’s new NewsGame Channel (via GameDaily ). While these games still more resemble political cartoons than they do actual news, I think it’s significant. Games still have a long way to go as a medium for news delivery, but they have something important to add: interactivity.

Instead of having the news read to you, why not become more intimately involved through a game? Events become more significant, more memorable, and maybe even more real. Instead of CNN the news channel, can you imagine CNN: THE GAME? Maybe you’re there following around the reporter as he runs around a war zone. Maybe you get to act out different scenarios with the drama emerging in Iran. I don’t know what it’s exactly going to look like, but this is only the tip of the iceberg.
