same 'ol same 'ol?

Next-Gen has an article on this report about projected hardware sales until 2010. And well, it looks like they think things are going to be about the same as they are now. Nintendo in 3rd, with PS3 rapidly gaining market share. The only difference is that 360 has the head start this time.

It does seem that Nintendo’s strategy is excessively short-term: Wii has no HD support and mediocre graphics. Looks like there’s going to be plenty of Wiis for everyone this holiday season. While that’s good for Nintendo’s bottom line today, I’m not so sure that it’s such a good strategy hype-wise. When everyone and their mother has a Wii, the motivation to be an early adopter and get excited about the system goes down drastically.

Sony, on the other hand, seems to be too long-term: PS3 is high on “possibility,” but the high price and small amount of units available for launch is angering a lot of people, shaping up for a disastrous launch.

Is an era of Microsoft dominance afoot?
